My name is Missi Menacher and I am a single parent to three wonderful children. I live in Menominee, MI which is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I grew up the daughter of a 1st Sgt in the Marine Corps and was lucky to spend almost my entire life in Fairfax, VA as my dad spent the last ten years of his duty at Head Quarters Marine Corps in Arlington, VA. My son Travis, as you can tell by my Marine Parents name, travisfamily, is my Marine. I have to say when Travis told me he was joining the Marines I was in a bit of a state of shock. Travis never talked about joining the military after high school but I am extremely proud of who he is and all of our Marines.

My oldest son Chad is a senior at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI and is currently filling out is “book” of paperwork for OCS in Quantico, VA. His plan is to attend OCS after he graduates from college next spring. Chad has always loved the Marine Corps and this is no surprise to me.

My youngest is my daughter Megan who will be a junior in high school this year. She is a fierce supporter of her brother Travis and has all of the usual stuff that we Marine moms do as well such as key chains, t-shirts, etc. to show her support.

I am very excited to participate in the Jerabek challenge to honor and support our Marines. Travis will be preparing soon for his first deployment after the first of the year. My son Chad will be running in the challenge and my daughter Megan and I are planning on walking.

We are starting this very late and are going to give it our best Marine family effort to reach our goal as it is such an important and special task.
